GTM Glossary · Metrics

Win Rate

The share of qualified opportunities that close as customers.

[01]What It Means

Measured from a defined stage, most usefully from the first accepted meeting, and read per segment, per source, and per competitor. A win rate without a stated denominator is not a metric, it is a claim.

[02]Why It Matters

Win rate is the fastest read on qualification quality. When it drops while volume rises, the motion is generating meetings the sales team cannot convert, which is expensive in exactly the way volume outreach promises to avoid.

[03]Where It Goes Wrong

Excluding no-decision outcomes, which are losses in disguise.Comparing win rates across markets with different qualification bars.Raising win rate by only pursuing easy deals, which shrinks the business.
