Speed-to-Lead
The elapsed time between an inbound signal and the first meaningful human contact attempt.
[01]What It Means
Measured from the moment the signal lands, not from when a rep sees it. Meaningful contact means a call or a personal message, not an automated confirmation email. Best-in-class B2B teams work in minutes; most organisations answer in hours or days.
[02]Why It Matters
Response time compounds: it decides who frames the problem first, which vendor becomes the reference point, and how often you are compared at all. It is one of the few metrics a company can improve in a week without changing product, price, or positioning.
[03]Where It Goes Wrong
Measuring the automated reply instead of the human one.Routing rules that send leads to a queue nobody owns outside office hours.Fast contact by an under-briefed junior, which converts speed into a bad first impression.
